While on a trip to Southern California, my husband and I visited Balboa Park in San Diego. Being artists, we take a lot of reference photos and being in a scenic location like Balboa Park, well let’s just say we took a few photos. This hibiscus bloom beckoned to be photographed and then painted. At first, I ignored the urge to try to paint it, since tackling a white blossom was one of my biggest challenges and fears. I tend to add a lot of detail and color where another artist might not, since I love to create emphasis. So, this white blossom evolved into a ‘purple’ hibiscus floral painting.
